Perhaps this Init String will work a little better:
 
AT&F&C1&D0&K3X4W1L1
 
Try that, and if that doesn't work, please post again.
 
As it is, I have to use Marinetti's Scripted PPP option. If your ISP asks
for more than just name and password, it's possible that you may have to
use the Scripted PPP option as well. 
 
In the meanwhile, the above Init String seems to work well with all types
of high speed modems, so give it a try.
 
Also, make sure that you've checked off the option in Marinetti for "Show
Connect Messages," as with that checked off, you'll be able to see how
far Marinetti gets, and where it's breaking down.
