When you're as dumb as I am, there isn't much room left for being sexist.
So, while you're in teaching mode, can you tell me whether making threaded
holes is something that I could do, without a full machine shop? I would
imagine that a tap couldn't be much more than a really fancy screw bit, or
am I wrong? These metal brackets need not be perfect to the thousandth of an
inch or anything, and if I could make them myself, they would be alot
cheaper for us than the $3 quote I had gotten.

Also, how are threads measured? Should I just go to Home Depot, buy some
quarter inch sheet metal screws, and match the hole threads to the screws?
And does it really matter which I would use?
