I made a pleasant discovery last night while playing with my IIgs....
I was told by many that you CANNOT use regular 3.5' disks on the IIgs
(the kind they sell today, high Density, IBM formatted)...
But in my mind it didn't make sense, because I remember when the 3.5
first came out, you could punch another whole in the disk and make it a
1.44 meg out of a 720K floppy... the physical characteristics of the
disk were the same, it was just the hole that identified what it was.
so, last night I opened a box of Imation 3.5 HD disks, Pre IBM-
formatted, and formatted it successfully, then I copied a game I have
just to make sure it worked, and it did!!!
So, if you're like me, I am heading out to Walmart this weekend and
buying every damn box of floppies I can find.... dont wanna be caught
with my pants down on this one!
Mike
