high speed scsi trm pwr mod...

I've been freaking around trying to get my high speed scsi card going
and for a few hours, and I think i've isolated the problem to the fact
that the card doesn't supply term power.  The drives i've tried dont
supply it either.  

I plugged the card in slot 1, 2, 5, ,6 & 7 (each time setting the
control panel, etc) but still (with terminators & correct id's) the
adv disk util (system tools disk of geos 6.0.1) can't see any drives
to format part. etc.

I think it's the lack of term power, is the term pwr mod OK to do for
an apple high speed scsi card?

Has anyone done the mod, and thier card survived? Even worked?

(BTW: the mod I'm refering to, is the one in tha faq.)
