Perhaps you should remind your Norweigan relatives that Sweden gave
refugee away from the Nazi's to many Norweigans during the war. If
we really had been Nazi collaborators, like e.g. Mussolini's Italy or
Franco's Spain, this could not have happened.
However, your friends are partially right: we did let German tropps
through to Norway during the war. That's nothing to be proud of, of
course: we did it out of fear, to try to keep Sweden out of the war,
and we stopped doing it several years before the war ended. If you
like, you could call us cowards. But it was not an act of agression.
BTW I think Norway would have done the same thing if they had been
put in the same position -- after all, Norway is an even smaller
country than Sweden is. Ask your Norweigan relatives if they would
be willing to sacrifice their own lives, or the lives of their kids,
to try to keep Sweden out of some war. No, I didn't think they
would, and I don't blame them for that.
