  Salesmen generally tell you what you want to hear, and not necessarily the
truth.

   What you really needed was a IIgs to Imagewriter I cable.  Of course you
need to find a Mac Plus (and higher) to Imagewriter I cable, same thing.

   If you already have the cable, get a Null Modem adapter for it, and try
that.  If not, I have the pinouts here:

IIgs   Imagewriter I

4       -       1
8        -       7
3        -       3
2        -      20
5         -      2
