Why don't you use the floppy port and save a slot?

Odd. I suppose this card may be incompatible with the IIgs. Did you set
the approriate slot to "your card" in the control panel?

Dumb Mac drives won't work with the IIgs onboard FDC. You'll need an
800k drive with an internal daiychain board that's a bit taller than
dumb Mac drives. A common one used on the IIgs is the "Apple 3.5 Drive"
model #A9M0106. If you want to use a dumb drive you'll need a special
controller.

They should. Most Apple II cards will work with the IIgs.
