I spent a little time at lunch puzzling over the circuit. I'll have to do more research to get very far, but I did note that the big chips here are a Z8 processor (Z8601), a static RAM, and an EPROM. Seems like a lot of firepower for a floppy controller, so maybe this is something else. Doesn't the Profile circuitry use a Z8?
