I've recently begun playing with my Apple III, after a decade or more
of it sitting on a shelf. I don't have an external floppy, so when I
saw an item on eBay named "Apple III Intelligent Uni/Duo Controller,"
I figured it was obviously a Unidisk / Duodisk controller for the
apple III and placed a bid. And, despite the fact that Apple III
stuff usually gets bid up far higher than I am willing to pay, I won
this for a surprisingly low amount.
I think I am starting to understand why I got it for such a low price,
as I can find no information at all about it. Because I assumed that
I knew what it was, I didn't even count the pins on the connector.
Now I see that it has a DB-25, rather than a DB-19, so if it does have
anything to do with Apple II unidisk/duodisk, an adapter will clearly
be required.
But, I'm starting to think that this may not be what I imagined at
all. It is dated 1983, Apple III+ era, and I understand the III+
moved to a DB-25 connector, so now I am wondering if this is a
controller card for updated Apple III external drives that Apple never
released.
Anyway, if anyone out there knows anything about this card, please
fill me in.
