Norton Disklock and MacOS 8.5 problems

I have a friend who locked his ide boot drive in his MAC G3 running MacOS
8.5 using Norton Disklock 4.0.  After rebooting, the drive has vanished from
his system and he has to boot off the second drive.

I moved the drive to the second ide bus and now Disk Setup can see but only
gives us an option to initialize the drive.

We have tried Emergency Diskunlock 4.0 and 4.6.  4.0 doesn't even see the
drive and 4.6 see it but says it is not locked, after 30 minutes.

Anyone have any idea how to unlock this drive?  He really would like to
recover the drive.  Norton support has been useless to this point.
