Hi all,
I have two IIGS power supplies which have failed and I am hoping I can
get them going again. I have some pics of the faults on my blog.
http://lukazi.blogspot.com/2011/06/power-supply-failure.html
PSU1. Looks like X2 has died and leaked out a brown/orange sticky
substance.
I wanted to know:
1. Is this substance toxic to work with.
2. If I can't clean it all (hard to reach parts) is the heat from
a running power supply going to affect anything.
3. What would I use to clean it up.
PSU2. When connected to the motherboard the power light flashes on and
off as if it is tripping on too much or not enough load.
I replaced the large capacitor that had blown it's top but this
has not helped. Still getting the same problem.
Looking at A2 FAQ I need to do some load testing first.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.
Alex.
