PSU1. Looks like X2 has died and leaked out a brown/orange sticky
substance.
That's a classic failure mode for older switching supplies. I've had three Apple supplies let out the magic smoke in the past year - phew, what a stench. 


     I wanted to know:
     1. Is this substance toxic to work with.
I wouldn't have any more contact with it than necessary, but I've been around exploding caps for years and am still alive and well. Truly hazardous substances like PCBs have been banned for decades. 


     2. If I can't clean it all (hard to reach parts) is the heat from
a running power supply going to affect anything.


It will just smell bad when warm.


     3. What would I use to clean it up.


Try PC flux cleaner or methanol.
