ImageWriter LQ problem

Anyone any idea how to fix the following?

I have an ImageWriter LQ. All the DIPs are set correctly. I have the
correct printer cable. No LocalTalk board installed. No cut sheet feeder.

First problem is the printer can't complete its self test. The print head
moves from side to side but doesn't print anything, nor does the paper
advance.

With both an Apple II and a Mac I have the same printing problem - send
something to print and the first line prints perfectly, but then the
printer goes off-line. Pressing the 'Select' button causes it to print the
next line, then go off line again... press 'Select' again, print third
line, go off-line... keep repeating ad nauseam until the entire document is
finished.  

I _can_ do the head alignment test - but I have the same problem as above,
ie the printer goes off-line at the end of every line of text.

Anyone any ideas on what the problem is here and how to fix it?


I'd appreciate an e-mail copy of any posts - my ISP's newsfeed from this
group isn't good, despite several complaints by myself (sigh).
