That's not correct.  If my recollection is correct, the chip was sold,
but Bits & Pieces were sued by Zip Technology, because they used
patented technology belonging to Zip.  (Bits & Pieces was formed by
ex-employees of Zip.)  The Rocket Chip was removed from the market as a
result of this.

There were two versions of the Rocket Chip: 5 MHz and 10 MHz.  I have a
5 MHz one here, which was bought through a retail store, so it must have
"made it to market".
