Yes; something like that was discussed a few months ago. The problem is
that you have a pretty messy set of conditions-- starting with needing to
select just a 280 x 192 section of a graphic and, almost always, needing to
pre-process the section-- e.g. reduce color depth-- before transferring to the
Apple II.
It turns out to be very inconvenient to have to select the section, send
it to your Apple II, and transform/save the pic before you get to see the
hi-res result (which usually looks moderately awful). It's an okay approach
for very simple graphics or graphics you can simplify on the PC to black/white
before transferring.
Just sending the original .bmp to your IIgs and running it through
Convert 3200 usually gives you enough processing control to have a decent
super-res rendition. This is a convenient format for further processing (e.g.
via Platinum Paint) before doing a super-res-->hi-res convesion via a program
like TGE.
In any case, most pics you find on the net will be .jpg or .gif. Since
there are speedy, flexible IIgs programs for .gif conversion and since .gif
graphics are compact, quick-transferring, and easy to store, .gif is a much
better source format than .bmp.
