Thanks Bart for the info - the robot kit could be an interesting project. . .
Radio Shack sells a product for $49.99 which is an X-10 compatible computer
interface (part no. 61-2417) which includes software for IBM PCs. Apparently
the module attaches directly to a AC socket, then attaches to the PC's serial
port via a RJ-11 telephone cord cable and DB-9 or DB-25 serial port connector.
I see no reason why this same module couldn't be connected to an Apple Super
Serial Card or equivalent and programmed either through Applesoft BASIC or
Assembly. I don't know the X-10 command set of this particular module but I'm
sure there's info on the 'Net, such as www.smarthome.com.
If I understand correctly, this module does not require the Apple to be up and
running after the computer interface module has been programmed. I wonder if
anyone's tried this setup?
Too many hobbies, so little time! :)
Art. . .
