What you're describing sounds like the X-10 CM11A controller, which is a
part of their ActiveHome kit.  The command protocol is available at
ftp://ftp.x10.com/pub/manuals/cm11a_protocol.txt.  (The protocol for the
FireCracker controller that they give away is also available, at
ftp://ftp.x10.com/pub/manuals/cm17a_protocol.txt.  Getting a FireCracker to
work on the II would be much more work, though...I have my Linux server
control mine.)
