Re: Apple model history?
Concerning the Apple /// inclusion in 'Apple model history', my thoughts on
it...sure it was an Apple computer model - so, it should be listed in the
'Apple model history'. As to the Apple /// being a part of anything concerning
the Apple II line of computers, all it ever offered related to that was limited
emulation of an Apple II by it's own Apple II emulation software.
What I dislike so much about the Apple /// is the fact that it was responsible
(among other things) for contributing to the discontinuation of the production
of the Apple II line of computers by Apple Computer. Woz refers to it as "the
Apple II killer".
Woz made this comment in his email/article that I have online to read.
"The Apple /// was designed to be, among other things, the Apple II killer.
Although our customer base loved the Apple II, and sales accellerated for years
as we expanded with the growing computer market, everyone in Apple worked for
one
product only, the Apple ///. Such a shame for a company to distance itself from
the real world. "

I wouldn't have an Apple /// if somebody gave it to me.
