ah, I was unclear. This is a one time thing. I just want to extract the
files to dos/unix and work on them from there. It seems as though extraction
programs I've seen recognize the directory structure, so reproducing it on
the output end shouldn't be too tought, right?
if only I had the source to the extraction program I've gotten ahold of. I'll
probably try tracking down the author soon.

I think it will require heavy modification since it was partly a comm
package. Perl is the likely candidate, actually. I suspect a lot of you
will be interrested in the results if I ever get anywhere with this :)
