If you have an Apple II, or an emulator with a large enough image, you can
compress the individual files with ShrinkIt and extract them with NuLib2.
NuLib2 can auto-convert text files and preserve ProDOS file types, and
will preserve the directory structure.  It works under Win32, Linux, BeOS,
Mac OS X, and others.  See http://www.nulib.com/.

You're still left with the problem of getting the one archive file from
place to place, but it sounds like you already know how to pull individual
files out of a ProDOS volume.
