Actually, Apple discouraged purchasers from the IIGS in the
United States and Canada too.

They tried for years to kill it and finally suceeded.

The IIGS was wildly successful during its first year and as a
reward (and for fear of sidelining the Mac) cut most of the IIGS'
R&D and advertising.

Why do you think us IIGS users are mostly now PC rather
than Mac users and are so bitter when it comes to Apple
Computers?
