Pretty simple. There are eight jumper positions, and all they do is
select the SCSI ID of the card. You must have exactly one pair
jumpered. The normal setting is the pair furthest away from the edge of
the card, which sets its SCSI ID to 7.
If you have some arcane reason for changing this, then the SCSI IDs are
numbered sequentially as you move along each pair of pins, ending with
ID 0 at the pair closest to the edge.
Every device on the SCSI bus, including the computer itself, must be set
to a unique ID. The highest ID has priority over all other devices, so
the computer should generally be the highest ID. The Apple SCSI cards
locate a boot device by searching for the highest ID (ignoring itself),
so a typical configuration is to set your primary hard drive to be SCSI
ID 6.
