Re: ADT 1.22 Difficulties - what's wrong?
That is pretty accurate. As I have mentioned before in this
thread, it is best to configure things for a standard modem setup
including the interrupts, which for newer II's should be on. Then
you can use a null modem adapter between the cable connector and
the PC. This way, you don't have to worry about the settings as
much.
For example, if you set the SSC for standard modem @ 19200, it is
quite trivial to replace the null modem adapter with an external
modem. Then the only other changes you need to make are in the
software to tell the program it should send modem commands to the
port. No opening the computer, no card pulling and switch changes
and no hassles. Cool, yes?
BTW, this is exactly how I set my SSC so I can use it in the IIe
or GS and everything works fine. I can do file transfers via
telecom programs or disk transfers via ADT (and probably others,
not tested yet).
It is fairly easy to make a null modem and should be just as easy
to purchase one also. I just like the single cable I made as it
makes for easy connection.
I keep stressing the interrupt setting because I found it to be
necessary. I was using the system without it and text traveled
across just fine. Files even uploaded from the Apple to the PC
without too much problem, but I could not download a binary file
image from the PC until I turned this setting on.
