May I direct you to TUCOWS to find a copy of a wonderful little package for 
the Windoz world called WS_FTP.  It is a GUI drivin- left and right panels- 
click the arrow to send either way, sort of thingy that works like a champ.  
I have used it to download entire directory trees and their files (upload 
too).

PS thanks for the MC tip; I had not realized that feature was in the package, 
but as an old old Norton Commander fanatic I have used MC for years in the 
Linux  world and never saw that.  coolness!
