This is one of times when you need the doc's. Wizardry games
can't be saved as such. Your characters are saved when you leave
the maze. It's been a while, but I think you must do this
manually. Later on, the newer PC games would let you save.

If you want to play the game and be able to save things at a
particular spot, you might try an emulator that can save states.
On the PC, this includes ApplePC 2.52 for Dos or Apple Oasis for
WIndows.
