Not 100% true, Mike. While you do need the ProDOS file
to run/launch ProDOS (obviously :) ), Basic.System isn't
always necessary. A good example is the recently
released Modem MGR telcom software. ProDOS will launch
the next system file on it's list. In the case of
Modem MGR, that's mmgr.system, and nary a copy of
Basic.System is to be found on the work disk. Now, if
you're running and AppleSoft application, then
basic.system is necessary, but a lot of programs are
contained or run from their own system file.
(Now if Apple would only re-release ProDOS to handle
more than 32 megs, I'd be a happy individual. :) )
