There aren't that many ProDOS programs that can give you a directory
listing sorted by date. And with those that do, I consider putting 00
before 99 to be a minor cosmetic error. Same with showing the date as 30/01/100.
The real problem is programs not accepting 00 as a valid year
(whether as input from the user or as the date ProDOS provides). In
my opinion, that is a real bug, one that should be solved in the
programs themselves, not by patching ProDOS to put 100 in the year field.
Imagine a few years from now, say the year 2015. Would you rather
have ProDOS saying the year is 15, or 115? I would opt for 15!
Besides, the new standard runs up to 2039, while the old only is
valid until 2027. Think ahead!
