There's two things you can do if you haven't already tried them.
One is to clean the drives head. This is most easily done with a head
cleaning disk. You should be able to find one at some computer stores.
The other is to set the drive speed. To do this you need a utility that'll
check your disk speed. There are a number but the one I've used is
Copy II+. If you have this program, under VERIFY you'll find
DRIVE SPEED. To adjust the drives speed there's a small hole for a
screwdriver at the right rear on the bottom of the case. I wouldn't
attempt to adjust that screw unless I was running software that told
me the drive speed.
