Re: Ethernet Problems on G3

Hi, I use the ethernet between my B&W G3 and my PowerBook. First thing I
have to ask, and it's basic, but, do you have the ethernet cable that
crosses the Transmit and Receive lines. It is a special cable referred to
as the cross jumpered cable I think. Otherwise you'll need a Hub to patch
them together. A friend of mine just got his Mac and a PC laptop to
transfer files using "Dave" on the PC side. For the Mac OS you use the
File Sharing control panel and the Network Browser control panel. Be sure
you have Appletalk connected via ethernet. And you will have to set up
File Sharing with a User/Owner name and password and the name of the
computer ie "Macintosh HD". You don't need to set up any network address
numbers. This is just computer to computer communications, just like RS232
only a lot faster.

Need help, feel free to email, Good luck, Elmer
