If you are keeping the UniDisk 3.5 for its value, why not just try to
sell it now?  Even if you do decide to speculate that the drive's
value might increase in value in the future, it would be best to not
do anything to the drive in case something happens (static zapping
some components or just plain old clumsiness).  Not to mention that a
lightly (or never) used drive will be much more valuable than a
heavily used one.

Apple 3.5 drives are cheap enough and easy enough to find that there
is no reason to do anything to a UniDisk 3.5.

Besides, there are probably a lot of people dying to find a UniDisk
3.5 for their //c's and it would be much nicer if people would make
these drives available for those that need them.
