That is very wishful thinking. The main problem is that emulator
gizmos are much easier to implement and adjust later through updates
than hardware updates. Hardware updates have to be thought out and
must make sense to everyone. That is of course the reason why you're
proposing that the authors get together, but I postulate that the
temptation is just too big. After all, the feature set is driven by
the competition among emulators.
However, I think it's mostly a moot point. No emulator up to this day
emulates a II at 100%, so we all better do our homework first. And
when that's done, there's still some room for improvement in the user
experience department.
