Depending on exactly how the disk controller card was plugged in, it may
have caused a voltage surge down any of the signal lines going to the
slot (including other power supply rails). This could have damaged any
component on the motherboard, and any card which was in the computer at
the time.
I'd say the computer is probably toasted. Get another one.
