I have run it with Dos 6.2 and 'Dos 7' from Win 95. It has
to do with the way the software works with the hardware.
Windows hates it when programs try to do low-level
hardware stuff. This is the same for ApplePC.

I think this accounts for part of the slowness. With newer
PC's it's too bad. I'm not sure if there is any support
from the authors though.
