Converting Appleworks database file to PC readable format

Does anyone know if I can convert a large Appleworks 3.0 database file to
something that could eventually be read/copied to Microsoft Excel? Our
school used nothing but Apple II+'s and Apple IIgs's for years (since 1982)
but switched to IBM-compatibles in 1994. I have a database file of over
12,000 records (only 2 fields, but lots of records, obviously) giving the
names, vocational program, and graduation dates for all of our students
since 1968. Problem is that we've got PC's now and only a couple Apple
IIgs's left on campus. For the schools sake, I'd like to preserve this
historical data and make it available to all of our teachers over our
school's network. To do this, though, I'd have to go through a couple
conversion steps, I'd guess. I have absolutely no clue as what to do. I'd
appreciate any and all information someone could provide me, whether it be
specific steps or a link to someone who might be able to help.

Thanks, in advance. I'm keeping fingers crossed.

Don
