OK, I'm confused. I thought I understood David's explanation, but
Supertimer seems to say otherwise.

My system is a Rom1 GS with 4Meg RamGS/ZipGS 8/64, GS System 6.0.1.
  Slot 7 - Appletalk
Slot 6 - Apple Hi-speed SCSI card, with 2 ProDOS partition harddrive
  Slot 5 - Apple superdrive controller with 1 FDHD and 1 800k 3.5 drives
  Slot 4 -
  Slot 3 -
Slot 2 - direct serial connection to HP unix workstation
Slot 1 - 'your card'; with phonenet connector for appletalk network.

I am connected to 4 network volumes (1 MacSE with appleshare3, 1 MacLC
personal file-sharing, 1 Mac PPC Powerbook 1400cs personal filesharing,
and 1 Mac PPC 7200 with personal filesharing. From GS/OS I have 4 network
volumes, 2 harddrive partitions, 800k /Ram5, and access to the two 3.5
drives. In p8, I have 4 network volumes (/7,1 /7,2 /2,1 /2,2) two
harddrive partitions (/6,1 /6,2) and two floppy drives (/5,1 /5,2).

I have NO /Ram5 volume in p8, but I do in GS/OS. David explained why,
but Supertimer does seem to have /ram5 in p8 with a similar setup. How do
you get it?

This hasn't entered the discussion yet, but it might be helpful to add.
What if I put a Ramfactor (1Meg) into the GS, slot ? (I'm guessing slot 1
since that already is set to 'your card', but is 'your card' neccessary
for a slinky /ram disk?). I know there is a special driver in GS/OS
for an apple2 memory card. With Ramfactor, will I keep access to /Ramx in
both p8 and GS/OS? Catch 22, I'm running a stock IIe powersupply in a
IIe case with Rom1 GS upgraded motherboard, ZipGS, 4Meg RAmGS, 2 drive
controller cards: will a RamFactor drive me over edge, power-wise? This
system is rock solid in its present configuration, but I do need a new
powersupply every couple years.

Ah, the joys of a system pushed near its limits. :-) What I really want
is an ethenet card!
