Herbert seems to be looking for a hardware emulator that provides
an expansion box for taking Apple IIGS hardware (namely, the
Apple II Video Overlay Card, a genlock device). Take a look at
the AMAX emulator for the Amiga. It is a box that provides Mac
ports including the Mac floppy drives so that the Amiga can read
and write the Mac's 800k format, not just 1.44MB. This is tied
to a Mac software emulator that's run by the Amiga's processor.

When you get to the point of developing hardware to emulate
the slots of a machine, you are designing something elaborate
and that you would want to get financial return from. At least
to break even. If so, like the AMAX and the Mac emulator that
runs on a PC called Gemulator from http://www.emulators.com/
the solution is simple. Instead of using ROM image files (Apple
might not have a fit for a software only emulator that's free, but
they'd probably get upset if it also was part hardware that
allowed use of slots), simply leave sockets on the hardware
box to plug ROM 01 chips in.
