even if a some kind of hardware interface that would allow for usage of some
original Apple hardware.

You the ability to use Apple drives would be more convienient than trying to
produce images. But you're right on the issue of the SWIM chips. ROMs could be
easily be pulled out of existing GS's, but the disk controller chips aren't socketed.

For me, I really want to make use of my VOC again for some subtitling projects,
but my TWGS is dead and the likelyhood of finding another one that works is
difficult. The cost of a genlock device for a PC is prohibitively expensive for me.

As such I'm pretty much stuck on this area.
