I have e-mail from one of the authors dated last July about the release of D2.
It says the source code will be available too. However, I would never press
that point with either of the authors, since they both have real lives, and
they both contributed far beyond what was normal for Apple II developers. The
last batch of source code they released fell into a black hole and (as far as I
know) hasn't been made available to the public. Too bad. In the hands of
someone qualified, we could have had some new updates.
The probability that they already looked into porting it to Windows themselves
is also high. I would give them more time to answer you. Randy Brandt always
answers his e-mail. Mark is the primary author of the D2 emulator, and would
probably be the one holding the latest code.
