GBBS - Null

Greetings all,
    A friend of mine gave me his software collection and I had a great find.
Good ole GBBS Pro it is version 1.3j.  I used to program that system when I
was a youngin'.
    Nonetheless, here are my three questions:

1) Is 1.3j the latest version number?  If not, where can I get the latest
version?  Or an someome supply me with it?

2) He gave me the manual as well, but a lot of the pages are missing, does
anyone know where I can get the manual for GBBS?

3) I want to write an interface to get GBBS to respond to an Internet
connection.  I already have the gound work for the translation, but I wanted
to know if anyone knows about running GBBS without a modem but a direct
connection?  I am going to use a IBM 286 computer to act as a middle man
between the Internet and the serial port on my IIgs.
