Analogies just don't work.  You are talking about something completely
different from piracy, aka copyright infringement, here.  You are also
breaking multiple laws above (break and enter, theft, trespass).
There is also a big difference between taking something you need to
survive, where the courts might show some leniency, and pirating
software.  How is software going to keep you warm?

Also, depending on where you are, taking stuff that has been thrown
away is still against the law.  Where I live, it is illegal to take
anything out of the landfills even though all they are going to do
with it is bury it.  Go figure.
