That's just the magazine biz. We used to have contests and stuff on
Computist (and other Apple II mags) which often attracted surprisingly few
entries. Nearly everyone seems to assume that there will be so many entries
that there's no chance to win.
Some promos 'hit' and some don't.

Also, did you say an Apple II TransWarp was the prize when announcing the
contest? (Don't recall-- seems like it would have made an impression, though.
Like, since you did not tell me the answer, I may have entered despite being on
the staff-- bet it was that suspicious looking .bxy file.)
Contests can be fun. (Just knowing a contest is happening is sort of
exciting.)
