SuperTimer, I believe you are thinking of the BlackOut virus which
made the border, background and text colours all black.
I'm pretty sure the Load Runner (or is it Lode Runner?) virus is the
one that wiped the boot blocks (blocks 0 and 1) of ProDOS and GS/OS
disks thereby making them unbootable. The data on the disks is still
fine, you just can boot the disk anymore.
To fix it you can use a program like BlockWarden to copy blocks 0 and
1 from a good boot disk to the ones hit by the virus or you can just
use a copy program to format a blank disk and copy the files from the
virus hit disk to the newly formatted disk.
I believe some of the virus detection software out there knows about
this particular virus and should be able to remove it if it is still
hanging around anywhere.
