The best update for HyperStudio is HyperCard for the IIGS
and the best update for AppleWorks Classic is the 16-bit
AppleWorks GS.

The full HyperCard IIGS package is available for download
on America Online. I could, of course, download the half
dozen disks and email them to you. Apple used to have
their own download site, but something happened to it I
think.

HyperCard IIGS can easily do what HyperStudio can but
it goes beyond that with the HyperTalk programming
language. You can check out the HyperCard area on
ground and download the HyperCard Player and the free
stacks available in that area first to see what I mean.

At the risk of starting a holy war with AppleWorks Classic
fans, I've always found AppleWorks GS to be the better
program. Sure, it needs more memory and works better
with accelerated systems, but it does so much more.
AppleWorks GS version 1.1 is available from
http://www.allelec.com/ Alltech Electronics for $10. If
you get AWGS, I recommend enhancing it with products
from http://www.crl.com/~joko Shareware Solutions II.
Namely, you'll want Pointless, which lets the IIGS use
TrueType fonts and Harmonie which lets the IIGS use
modern ink-jet and laser printers such as Epson Stylus,
Canon BubbleJet, HP DeskWriter and DeskJet, and
HP LaserJet.

The fully enhanced AWGS package will produce great
results using TrueType fonts printing to a shared ink
jet or laser printer (shared with your Mac or PC). The
results of a printed page are indistinguisable from that
coming out of a Mac or PC.
