and thanks for helping make (and keep) c.s.a2 one of the best

When I started my newsreader this morning, I saw a big "new message"
count in csa2, and my curiosity was piqued...
Then I came upon this thread and was surprised, then delighted! ;-)
Thank you all for the birthday wishes!
And all of you should take credit for creating the excellent tone
on csa2.
Many years ago (yeah, yeah...), when I discovered Usenet and csa2,
I was very happy to have found so many kindred spirits, but also
dismayed by how it had become a "rough part of town", where flaming
was the norm and newcomers were likely to be repelled.
I decided then to do what I could to move it toward a more civil
and reasonable discourse, though my only real hope was that others
would see the potential for improvement and join in. I was, in fact,
one of those "joiners", since even then, there were wonderful people
sharing their amazing expertise in a friendly, approachable manner.
(David Empson was, and still is, a real inspiration for me.)
Happily, over time, all of us made csa2 a much better place--welcoming
to newcomers, enlightening to experienced users, and helpful to all.
Thank you for your acknowledgement. Now take a moment to acknowldege
_yourselves_ for all your contributions to the joy that is csa2!
