Recently IBM released a reference design for a CHRP based PowerPC
motherboard. This is free to any manufacturer who wants to use it (of course
they'll need to buy the CPUs from IBM). The idea is that these can be used
to run Linux or other free operating systems. At least one manufacturer has
already announced plans to use the design.
