The Apple IIGS uses analog RGB (it needs to because the
IIGS has a 12-bit palette for 4096 colors), but not at the
same frequency as VGA.

However, there is a video card for the IIGS that supports
SVGA modes.  It is called the Second Sight from
http://www.sequential.com/ Sequential Systems and it
will run VGA and SVGA monitors.
