Having spent most of my software career working on fairly low-end
embedded systems,
and speaking with respect to a fairly small sample size, I'd have to
agree with this.
We could have just had a run of "the bad ones," but we've had better
experience with
people with engineering degrees (or no degrees but a music/languages
background) who
are self-taught as programmers.
