Help with Epson 740 Printer and Apple IIGS

I just bought a new Epson 740 printer for my Power Mac and would also like
to use it with my Apple IIGS. My wife uses Appleworks and I'd like for her
to be able to print directly to the Espon. I've hooked it up to the IIGS
using a Grappler II printer interface card and can communicate to the
printer when I run Appleworks. That is, I can create an Appleworks file
with some text, and print it out reasonably to the printer. My problem is
that it does not print reliably and sometimes skips or drops characters to
the printer for no reason at all.

Can anyone help me set this up so that it prints reliably? What switch
settings should I be using on the Grappler and what print codes for
Appleworks?
