I wouldn't go so far as to say the utility of a 68k Mac is
"significantly" higher. I recently got a Mac IIsi and even though it
has a 68030 processor in it, it still feels slower than my 8 Mhz IIgs.
I haven't used the Mac much, so I haven't really given it much of a
chance to prove itself yet.

Definitely! Which is why I still have an Atari 2600, Atari 1040STe,
Commodore 64, TRS-80 Colour Computer 2 and my collection of Apple IIs.

Actually, my father was in the military and we were posted to the
Canadian Armed Forces base is Lahr. My Apple IIe was purchased at the
Canadian Forces Exchange (chain of department, grocery and convenience
stores for the military). So I actually got it from a Canadian
source. :)

I'd have to disagree with that. Rarity is the cause of the high
prices for antiques, old cars, limited collector's items and much
more. If you are looking for something that is hard to find and you
track down someone selling that item at a price you think is
unreasonable, you can continue to look for someone offering that item
at a better price or you can save yourself the time and purchase the
item from the known source. It depends of what you figure you time is
worth.
