Jeff Blakeney posted this comment and observation:
"For example, I can't afford to buy anything for my Apple IIs right now
so I just skip reading the comp.sys.apple2.marketplace newsgroup.
This should mean that I don't see any "for sale" messages when I'm
reading the Apple II newsgroups."
And, I reply:
Jeff,
Perhaps you should start reading comp.sys.apple2.marketplace. You
could be missing out on some very good FREE offerings from that newsgroup. Have
you ever thought about the possibility that the comp.sys.apple2.marketplace
newsgroup might have a post now and
then with people offering FREE Apple II and IIgs systems, hardware, software,
etc.? They do you know.
I can't afford to buy anything for my Apple II's right now either. But,
I can personally varify that over the past several months by reading
and responding to a few free and trade offerings from the newsgroup postings
on comp.sys.apple2.marketplace, I've obtained for FREE and traded for a very
nice collection of useful and very rare Apple II and IIgs systems with some
VERY IMPRESSIVE hardware, books and software.
There's more to read in the comp.sys.apple2.marketplace than just items offered
for sale.
So, even if you can't afford to buy anything for your Apple II's right
now, you might be amazed at what you can find there offered for FREE
or for trade with some other item you have that you don't really need any more.
If you have the time and the desire to research what's offered from that
newsgroups postings, you may be rather pleased with what people post and offer
from it for FREE or for trade from time to time. I certainly was!
Cheers,
Tom
